Young people and their families routinely cite the perceived and real costs of college as key barriers to college access and success. At uAspire, post-secondary aspirations become reality thanks to a vital combination of information and guidance provided by an expertly trained team of uAspire College Affordability Advisors. uAspire advisors conduct workshops and provide free advisory services through a network of partnerships uAspire creates with high schools, community organization and colleges.
uAspire has been tackling college affordability in Massachusetts for 30+ years. Based on this strong foundation, in 2013 the GreenLight Fund partnered with uAspire to bring its proven model to the Bay Area. To date, over 13,000 students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward and eight University of California surrounding communities used or are currently making use of uAspire’s services.
uAspire is working toward the day when all young people have the opportunity to reach their full potential by graduating from college, regardless of their families’ financial resources or college experience.

“What I think is so important about uAspire is that they give us both financial support and encouragement. The financial aid process is really confusing. No one in my family went to college, so they didn’t know any of the details that uAspire helped me through. If I had applied to colleges on my own, I would not have gotten as much financial aid as I did.”
