Blueprint Schools Network Launched 2016 About Using math as a vehicle to grow student achievement and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Blueprint Math Fellows (Blueprint) is an intensive, daily, in-school tutoring program that provides students in partner schools with high-quality, personalized support in mathematics. Blueprint seeks to build students’ math skills and confidence so they can achieve academic success and enjoy learning math. With low math proficiency rates for middle school students and after searching for a proven model, GreenLight invested in the expansion of Blueprint to the Bay Area to strengthen math outcomes. While teachers have classrooms of 25-30 students, fellows manage no more than four students at a time to ensure individualized instruction. A recent study, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, showed that Blueprint participants scored higher in state math assessments than their non-participating peers. Most Blueprint students reported strong relationships with their tutors and, on average, students’ confidence in math and sense of belonging in tutoring increased during the school year.
