Springboard’s bilingual family workshops gave Yunleyda the tools to support her daughter’s reading, helping her daughter build confidence and make measurable reading gains.

“I was worried that my daughter was falling behind in school because our family is still learning the English language.” For Yunleyda, mother of a student in Peres K-8 in Richmond, supporting her daughter’s education initially felt overwhelming. Like many immigrant parents, she felt powerless to help her child succeed in a new language.

Joining Springboard’s bilingual family workshops changed everything. “Attending the family workshops has helped my family and especially my daughter,” Yunleyda shares. “She is now more confident in learning to read.”

Her daughter’s teacher, R. Mayer also saw that confidence in the classroom: “The program works. Ninety percent of my students demonstrated measurable growth and met and/or exceeded their growth goals.”
