Philadelphia is changing fast.

Philadelphia is home to many of the nation’s finest higher education research institutions, and some of its best hospitals and academic medical centers. Its population is growing for the first time in five decades, spurred by entrepreneurship, technological advances, and the fastest growing millennial generation anywhere in the country. Today’s Philadelphia is full of possibility.

Yet, some of the city’s most intractable challenges remain. Philadelphia has the nation’s highest rate of families living in poverty among big cities – over 60,000 children in Philadelphia live in deep poverty. This is where GreenLight comes in. We give Philadelphia a tool to identify and address the most urgent needs of low-income residents with the country’s best social innovations.

Our Portfolio

We search from coast to coast to bring the most promising, ground-breaking answers to some of Philadelphia’s most challenging poverty-related issues. Organizations in our portfolio represent the best in their fields – in innovation, measurable results and ability to scale.
