For two decades, GreenLight Fund has worked alongside communities to create opportunities. By identifying and investing in innovative, proven organizations, GreenLight ensures that solutions with strong track records reach more cities – and more families – with the tools and resources they need to thrive. As GreenLight’s work has grown, so has its need for thoughtful, mission-aligned corporations. Deloitte has emerged as one of the most enduring and strategic, bringing deep experience, sustained engagement, and a commitment to impact.

Together, GreenLight Fund and Deloitte have built a relationship grounded in trust, built for scale, and centered on driving change where it’s needed most.

A Turning Point, and a Shared Vision

In 2020, as GreenLight reflected on its first 15 years and prepared for its next chapter, the organization sought clarity on how to grow without losing its focus – how to serve more communities while staying deeply rooted in place. Deloitte’s Monitor Institute, in conjunction with Deloitte Consulting LLP, came to the table as a true strategic thought leader, leading a comprehensive planning process that helped GreenLight sharpen its model and build the infrastructure for national growth.

The result wasn’t just a roadmap. It was a strategic foundation – one that would guide how GreenLight evaluates opportunities, measures progress and stays accountable to community voice. In 2024, Deloitte returned to extend and refresh the plan, adapting it to a rapidly growing network and an increasingly complex landscape of need and opportunity. This multi-year collaboration has been instrumental to GreenLight’s ability to expand to new cities, deepen local impact, and remain steadfast in its mission to advance economic mobility and opportunity for families experiencing poverty.

Driving Local Impact Across the Network

While Deloitte’s national strategy support has helped GreenLight grow with clarity and purpose, the relationship has extended far beyond planning documents.

Through Deloitte’s Service Corps – one of Deloitte Consulting LLP’s pro bono programs—teams of Deloitte professionals have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with many of GreenLight Fund’s portfolio organizations. These engagements offer high-impact support in areas like growth strategy, data systems, technology, operations, and financial planning—areas that are critical to long-term sustainability but often under-resourced in the nonprofit sector.

For organizations scaling in new cities, adapting programs to local needs, or seeking to strengthen internal systems, this kind of support is often game-changing. And because these engagements are grounded in relationships, they become more than technical assistance—they become capacity-building relationships.

From Philadelphia to Chicago to Atlanta, Deloitte teams have helped portfolio organizations refine their infrastructure so they can focus on what matters most: meeting the needs of their communities.

Leadership That Connects Missions

A key force behind this enduring relationship is Alicia Rose, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP who leads the Office of the CEO.  She is a longtime member of GreenLight Fund’s National Board and is a champion for GreenLight’s mission and growth.

She brings strategic insight, a deep understanding of community-centered work, and a personal investment in advancing opportunity.

With the broader commitment of Deloitte’s teams, the relationship has evolved into a long-term collaboration that helps both organizations make a greater impact in our shared communities.

A Model for Mission-Aligned Collaboration

As GreenLight Fund celebrates 20 years of impact, the organization continues to grow not just in size, but in depth: in its relationships with communities, its learning from the field, and its relationships with those who believe in long-term investment and trust-based collaboration.

Deloitte’s contributions, spanning strategy, systems, and on-the-ground support, have helped shape GreenLight’s ability to deliver on its mission with clarity and strength. And their support of GreenLight’s portfolio organizations has helped ensure that some of the most effective, community-rooted nonprofits in the country are equipped to grow and thrive.

This relationship is a powerful example of what happens when organizations show up for each other- and for the communities they serve.
