In the first year, the program served residents of Denver Housing Authority (DHA). Participants who had made progress on their back rent balances expressed relief and appreciation for the program in supporting them to avoid eviction, particularly after applying for other eviction support programs. The Renew Collaborative team also provides support and reassurance during periods of financial stress. Tenant advocates assure participants that someone is by their side, supporting them. One participant said, “You know, there’s not a lot of people who get the opportunity to kind of have that extra help when you do fall behind. So, I think it’s kind of rewarding. It’s like, well, if you do your part, then we’ll do our part. And because I’ve done my part, now they’re doing their part. And it’s just a huge weight that’s been lifted off my shoulders. Like…my heart doesn’t skip a jump when my mail for the rent comes in.” Shaping Young Leaders’ Futures: Health Career Connection Next Story Denver Shaping Young Leaders’ Futures: Health Career Connection
