Zac Rich

Executive Director, GreenLight Boston

Boston

Zac Rich serves as the Executive Director of GreenLight Fund Boston. A life-long criminal justice reform advocate, he began his Boston-area career in 2011 as a youthworker at Roca, focused on communities in and around Chelsea, East Boston and Roxbury. As a youthworker, he provided intensive outreach and case management support to young adults at the center of urban violence – both in the community and behind the wall in HOC, DOC, and DYS facilities.

Zac also brings 10 years of experience in the public sector, having served as the Director of Justice-Based Initiatives at Commonwealth Corporation, a quasi-state agency. During his tenure, he oversaw technical assistance and program development strategy for the 14 Safe & Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI) -funded cities across the Commonwealth on behalf of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, as well as the Adult Re-Entry Workforce Development Demonstration Program on behalf of Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Prior to joining GreenLight, Zac most recently served as the Chief of Program & Evaluation at The New Commonwealth Fund, where he developed and implemented a multi-year, phased grantmaking strategy predicated on respect-based investment in Black and Brown-led nonprofits across Massachusetts. Zac currently sits on the Board of Directors for Citizens for Juvenile Justice, the Northeastern University Center on Crime, Race, and Justice Community Advisory Board, and is a proud recipient of a 2023 Governor’s Citation from the Healey/Driscoll administration for his ongoing commitment to youth violence reduction efforts in Massachusetts.

…on weekends though, you’ll most likely find him in Brooklyn cheering on the New York Liberty during the WNBA season, or in Boston on the never-ending hunt for the perfect burrito.
