Kaitlyn Orsini Coordinator, GreenLight Greater Newark Greater Newark Kaitlyn Orsini (Kait) is a social justice enthusiast with a nonprofit work and student leadership background. When understanding the layered socio-political world, Kait promotes humanity, respect, and empathy. Before joining GreenLight Fund in 2023, Kait graduated from St. John’s University with her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Government and Politics with a minor in International Relations. While at St. John’s, Kait was an involved student leader on campus. She was part of Student Wellness as a S.O.A.R Guide (Sexual violence Outreach Awareness and Response), helping to facilitate workshops to promote an understanding of sexual rights, bystander intervention, and affirmative consent. Kait was also an Assistant Chair on the Equity Committee, part of Student Government, as she often interacted with the administration to bring light to specific issues students faced on campus. Her work on campus catapulted her into the nonprofit field, as she was one of the first employees of For Women By Women, Period., as they battled the public health crisis of period poverty throughout the New York City and Metropolitan area. Kait helped distribute nearly 100,000 menstrual products to individuals, shelters, and mutual aid groups. She was able to connect with the community and also with other organizations that inspired her to continue community outreach. Kait has a thoughtful grasp of the inner and outer workings of political environments and has used the framework of intersectionality for a better analytical approach to solving deeply rooted systemic issues. With her love and respect for nonprofit work, she is proud to be a part of the Newark team where she can represent and strengthen her home state.
