Single Stop USA Launched 2013 About Connecting college students to resources to support college persistence and retention. Single Stop USA harnesses some of America’s most effective anti-poverty tools to create economic mobility opportunities for families and individuals with low incomes. Providing coordinated access to government programs, Single Stop connects people to the resources they require to attain higher education, obtain good jobs, and achieve financial self-sufficiency. After elevating through GreenLight’s selection process that fewer than 25% of students from households navigating low incomes were completing an associate degree within six years, GreenLight launched Single Stop in Philadelphia in 2013 in partnership with the Community College of Philadelphia. It was heralded at the time as the “best site launch in the nation” by Single Stop, given the pace at which it signed up participants and expanded available services. Single Stop is a one-stop resource center offering college students holistic guidance grounded in equity, respect and trust focused on providing basic needs assistance. The program provides a wide array of services such as benefits screening and application assistance, tax preparation services, financial counseling, legal assistance, immigration counseling and health enrollment advice. Through inclusive, coordinated access to local, state and federal benefits and community-based organizations, Single Stop strives to build the economic stability needed to increase college persistence, retention and graduation rates.
