Hopeworks Launched 2022 About Hopeworks’ model is designed to break down barriers to economic mobility by propelling young professionals from under-resourced communities into long-term living wage careers in the tech field. Hopeworks is a nonprofit social enterprise that serves young professionals ages 16-27 by providing professional training, internships and real-world business experience. Once trained, participants have the opportunity to work in one of Hopeworks’ social enterprises: Web Design, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or the Youth Healing Team which provides trauma informed consulting services to local businesses. These social enterprises generate jobs that lead to high-wage, permanent opportunities for youth in a growing tech industry. To address growing digital inequity in Philadelphia, GreenLight selected Hopeworks based on their proven track record of success. Their results include 85% of participants earning high-wage jobs, a 12-month retention rate of almost 90% at those jobs, and average earnings of over $43,000 annually. Hopeworks ensures each of its participants has access to a laptop/desktop, internet connectivity and adequate technical training in relevant fields, opening the opportunity for individuals to reach their professional dreams and build a sustainable future for themselves, their families and their community.
