About

Empowering success and breaking barriers, Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) paves the way for bright futures.

CEO is dedicated to providing immediate, comprehensive employment services to individuals with recent criminal convictions. The program aims to empower participants to overcome challenges, regain essential skills, and transition to stable and productive lives.

GreenLight launched CEO in Detroit in 2018 to address high rates of recidivism and unemployment for young adults returning to Detroit after incarceration. By providing immediate employment and essential resources, CEO is removing barriers and supporting participants on their journey toward personal growth and professional success.

CEO’s structured program includes life skills education, short-term paid transitional employment, full-time job placement and post-placement services. With individuals formerly incarcerated receiving assistance at their most vulnerable point, CEO participants are less likely to become re-incarcerated and more likely to build stability for themselves and their families. Studies show that CEO’s approach results in a significant reduction in recidivism and higher levels of immediate and long-term employment. Local businesses also benefit from a skilled and reliable workforce.
