All Our Kin Launched 2022 About All Our Kin (AOK) trains, supports, and sustains family child care educators as home-based providers caring for young children. Through family child care networks that include educational mentorship, professional development, business resources, advocacy and a peer community, family child care educators gain a greater knowledge of child development, learn new strategies to support children and families, and grow their businesses. To address the issue that quality, affordable care for infants and toddlers is in short supply nationwide and locally, GreenLight launched AOK in Kansas City. AOK’s unique, data-driven system of support for home-based providers helps child care educators succeed as business owners, working parents find stable, high-quality care for their children and children prepare for educational achievement. AOK has a 20+ year track record of supporting family child care educators with clear impact: Educators score an average of 50% higher on research-based measures of quality. Children, in turn, outperform their peers on language and literacy, math, and social-emotional assessments. The majority of educators working with AOK see their earnings increase by 25% or more in the first year. AOK is collaborating with Kansas City’s The Family Conservancy (TFC) to develop a staffed family child care network to support home-based educators in greater Kansas City. Building on existing work and relationships with family child care educators in the community, the network housed by TFC will provide educational mentorship, professional and business development, and advocacy and leadership opportunities.
