About

Empowering families for school success, one home visit at a time.

ParentChild+ is an evidence-based early literacy, parental engagement and school readiness model committed to closing the achievement gap by providing families with the knowledge, skills and materials they need to prepare their children for success in pre-kindergarten and beyond.

GreenLight brought ParentChild+ to Charlotte to address the high adverse childhood experience (ACE) scores for children entering kindergarten and the low 39% third grade literacy proficiency rate in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

ParentChild+ Early Literacy Specialists, hired from within the community, come into the homes of families with children aged two to four with limited access to quality early childhood programming. They help parents build language-rich home environments, strengthen parent-child interaction, and enhance children’s literacy, cognitive and social emotional skills, supporting the transition to pre-K.

ParentChild+ is currently reaching families through partnerships with Inlivian, Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, and Families First in Cabarrus County.
