Since opening their doors on Community College of Philadelphia’s main campus in October, Single Stop USA has supported over a thousand students in building financial security and thereby, improving their chances of completing school. By providing cost-free eligibility screenings for a wide range of existing state and federal resources, from food stamps to child-care subsidies, and connecting students with free in-house tax preparation, Single Stop drew down more than $1 million in benefits this tax season. Additionally, through health care enrollment sessions conducted at Single Stop’s office at the College, hundreds of students were given the opportunity to familiarizing themselves with Healthcare.gov and learn more about navigating the Health Insurance Marketplace. In a short period of time, Single Stop has made tremendous strides in promoting financial stability and upward mobility at Community College of Philadelphia.
